Responsibilities:

 

  •  Contracts - Drafting, review and negotiation of contracts with retirement plan clients, including service, trust, custodial, and non-disclosure agreements.
  •  Product Counsel - Advise and assist Stable Value Investments unit in the drafting, negotiation, and filing of guaranteed investment contracts, synthetic GICs, group annuity contracts and other fixed income wrap contracts.
  •  Product Distribution Documents - Drafting, review and negotiation of contracts with investment issuers and financial intermediaries, including mutual fund distribution, shareholder servicing, subscription/participation, and dealer agreements.
  • Regulation - Advise business unit on insurance regulatory issues and insurance product development/innovation. Provide other regulatory advice on insurance, ERISA and securities law issues and contract support as required.
  • Marketing - Review of marketing materials and communications.
Requirements:

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of legal experience preferably at a law firm including working directly with clients.  In-house experience a plus.

 

Some of the following: 

 

  • Regulation-Experience dealing with state insurance regulators as well as Department of Labor, SEC, and/or FINRA a plus.
  • Insurance - Knowledge of insurance laws generally and well-versed in New York law governing products offered by New York domiciled insurance companies. Emphasis on group versus individual products.
  •  Products - Knowledge of insurance products sold to the institutional marketplace, in particular, to defined contribution plans (e.g. GICs, guaranteed separate accounts and synthetic GICs). Knowledge of products for the qualified market is essential and background in non-qualified plan market is preferred.
  • Retirement Plans & IRS - Knowledge of regulatory framework, including IRS rules, governing retirement plans and plan investments required.
